Due to the water hammer, the pressure in the pipeline increases sharply to several times or even ten times higher than the normal pressure, which is very harmful. Causes cracking of the pipe. 

This experimental device can be used to demonstrate the formation and function of water hammer and study the working principle of hydraulic impactor. The container, the air cushion on the container will reduce the strength of the water hammer, and the water will rise evenly into the high position. The direction of the water flow is again changed by the mechanical reversing valve, and so on, the water continuously enters the high-position container by the action of the water hammer. At a certain water flow rate, water flows out from the mechanical reversing valve outlet. When the direction of the water flow is suddenly changed, the pressure opens the check valve under the container, and the water flows into an air. The water is transported through a long circular pipe to the mechanical reversing valve.
