Flat packed towers have multiple uses in process engineering, wastewater and air purification, and biotechnology systems. The use of fillers can bring the two substances into close contact. When used as a packed bed reactor, the packing carries the catalyst required for the reaction. Due to the high porosity, large gap, large flux, and low resistance of the Raschig ring packing, the gas and liquid in the packing tower can pass freely, and the gas and liquid distribution in the packing layer is better, especially the inner surface of the packing ring It is easy to be wetted by liquid. Observing the flow conditions required is essential for proper operation. Wettability, contact time and flow resistance play a key role. These can be used to study performance with a packed column trainer, and can demonstrate important phenomena such as wall effects or flood points. No matter what its orientation is, the liquid sprinkled on the packing may flow along the outer wall or flow along the inner wall. In this way, the degree of dispersion of the liquid increases and the utilization of the inner surface of the filler increases. Therefore, it not only has a larger throughput and a lower pressure drop, but also has a high mass transfer separation efficiency. Can be operated with air or water. When operating with water, the flow direction can be changed, so even fully submerged towers can be studied, for example in packed bed reactors. The column was operated with air and water in counter-current, and the application was simulated as an absorption column. Packed beds are interchangeable. The central element of the trainer is a transparent packed column. The pressure at the top, middle and bottom of the tower was measured to determine the pressure loss of the packed bed.

The experimental device has its own air and water supply. The closed water circuit is composed of storage tank, pump, flow meter and control valve. The air supply includes a compressor with flow meter and control valve.
